Thousands of Greeks and tourists are flocking to see the restored Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens in the city centre, after it opened its doors to the public on July 2.
The Church underwent restoration works to both its interior and exterior for many years, following the damage it sustained in the two devastating earthquakes of 1981 and 1999.
The magnificent temple officially opened with a doxology by Archbishop of Athens Hieronymus, with the attendance of the President of the Hellenic Republic, Prokopis Pavlopoulos.
The Church was built in1863.
