Ever since I can remember myself, I have been watching my grandmother, at first, and then my mother baking bread.
My grandmother used to bake her bread in a wood oven, so there was a lot of preparation involved and I always liked to help as a child. At the time, I found it all very exciting.
When I was 15 I wanted to bake my very own bread. My mother agreed and covered my hands with honey. It is a Greek custom for people who bake bread for the first time. They say that if you cover your hands with honey, the bread will be ''sweet'' and successful.
And so it was. My very first loaf of bread turned out beautiful and delicious.
Since then I have been baking bread for my family and now, after years of experience, my bread is 1000 times better.
Maybe we can bake bread together when you visit Greece. Wouldn't that be a nice experience for you?
