Keramia & Kontopoula, Crete - Where the Experience will take place
What the web says
Keramia is a former municipality in the Chania regional unit, Crete, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Chania, of which it is a municipal unit. It is part of the former Kydonia Province. Keramia covers the high villages in the foothills of the White Mountains (Lefka Ori) to the south of the city of Chania.
Though apparently close to Chania, the access to the villages of Keramia is by narrow winding hill roads, and hence the area is little developed or visited by tourists. The seat of the municipality was Gerolakos. The municipal unit also includes Malaxa, Katochori, Kontopoula and Drakona.
Kontopoula is a Village in Keramies in Chania in the Crete Region of Greece. Kontopoula is also a Municipal district. Kondopoula is at an altitude of 307 meters. In 1991, Kontopoula's population was 104, down from 355 in 1981.
Locations near Kontopoula include the Village of Katochori and the Settlement of Achlades. Malaxa is a nearby village, which is also part of the Chania regional unit on Crete in Greece.
The 2001 census counted a population of 178 people in the village. In ancient times the Malaxa area was under the sphere of influence of the nearby powerful city of Kydonia. Malaxa lies on the feet of the Lefka Ori, and is separated from the large city of Chania by the Chania Plain.
